With the snow event nearly over (for now), it is time to turn our attention to the extreme cold temperatures coming this weekend.

The snow is actually a good thing when it comes to keeping water meters from freezing. The snow acts as an insulator and helps seal the water meter from the cold air. It is a good practice to not disturb the snow around your water meter.

If your home/business is prone to having frozen pipes when it turns cold, locate your plumber's phone number now and keep it close by.

If you suspect a frozen water meter, please give us a call at 913-724-7000, (Ext. 2 if after hours) and we will be glad to take care of that part. Frozen meters are not common and if you do not have water, you most likely have a frozen pipe somewhere else in your system.

Stay Warm!
